1. Confirm the purpose of every page
Each page should help a visitor understand something or take a useful next step. Remove duplicate pages and make the primary action obvious.
2. Read the content as a customer
Check headings, service descriptions, contact details, spelling, and calls to action. Replace internal language with words your customers actually use.
3. Test every screen size
Review the website on a small phone, a tablet, a laptop, and a large display. Pay special attention to menus, forms, long headings, and image cropping.
4. Check every interaction
- Open every navigation link.
- Submit or test every form.
- Check email addresses and downloadable files.
- Use the website with a keyboard.
5. Review the essentials
Make sure the page title, description, favicon, privacy policy, and 404 page are ready. Confirm that images have useful alternative text and pages have one clear main heading.
6. Prepare for after launch
Decide who will handle updates, how often content should be reviewed, and where enquiries will go. A website stays useful when someone owns the follow-through.
